HOPE FOR HOLIDAYS: PCR Test See arranged to remove
Announcement of Scapping PCR tests for traveling ahead of half the term will be done in “the coming day”, said Secretary Transportation.
Grant Shapps said they “anticipate” have changes ready before the break during the week later this month.
This means that the family vacation fee will fall with hundreds of pounds, with PCR tests each for £ 75 on average.
Instead, a fully vaccinated arrival will be able to use a lateral flow test for their two days test – which costs around £ 25.
It came after the government reduced the “red list” trip to England to only seven countries – down from 54.
Asked to provide a date when they will move from PC to the lateral stream, Shapps told Sky News: “We want to finish this for half a term for people.
“I know my colleague is on the health, and to extend the home office … it works very hard to finish this.
“We anticipate after it is ready for half terms and what differences will make people, rather than having to do things like sending tests and waiting for the results.
“Because people will get used to lateral streams, you read it on the cassette there and then, it shows your results in a few minutes, and it is much easier, much cheaper.”
Pressed when the public can expect an announcement, he replied: “In the coming days.
“We know when clear half the term will come and my advice to people will only survive.”
Last night it was announced that 47 goals including South Africa would be removed from the English red list at 4am on Monday.
Passengers who returned to England from this goal would no longer be asked to enter the hotel quarantine.
Meanwhile, the Red Red list will be reduced to Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, Panama, Peru and Venezuela.
