Increased Covid-19 Vaccine Production in India Becomes ‘Game Changer’ Beyond Borders: US

Biden administration on Thursday announced that it would send 25 million vaccines to other countries, including India.

The increase in manufacturing capacity of Covid-19 vaccine in India has the potential to become a game Changer far exceeded its limits, said the Biden government on Thursday.

“It’s important for us because India has suffered greatly from the outbreak. Virtually, there is no element of Indian society that is not touched by this terrible specter. That is why we have talked about focusing on improving manufacturing in India,” A spokesman for Department of Foreign Affairs Ned Prices told reporters.

“Increased production capacity in India, the capacity volume has the potential to be a modifier of the game well exceed Indian limits. And that’s why this arrangement is achieved and announced in the Quad context,” he said.

Earlier this year at the first Virtual Quad Summit, consisting of leaders from Australia, India, Japan and the United States, were decided to work together to increase the capacity of making Covid-19 Indian vaccines.

So far, the United States has contributed USD500 million in the help of Covid-19 to India. This includes USD100 million from the government alone. All US governments, including the Secretary of State Tony Blinken, have made efforts to galvanize the private sector for the chip, he said.

“We are truly grateful to see that, together between the contributions of the US government and the contribution of the private sector, we have seen several USD0.5 billion in support going to India when needed,” he said.
